If you think you can help our Local Governors fulfil their role in providing focused governance, monitoring key performance indicators and acting as a critical friend to the Headteacher, whilst providing appropriate guidance, we would love to hear from you.
We are a small Multi Academy Trust of three schools and looking for a Clerk to play a pivotal role in the smooth and efficient functioning of the Local Governing Body (LGB) at Thames Ditton Junior School.
As well as offering advice and guidance on all aspects of governance, you will ensure the efficient functioning of the LGB by providing:
- Administrative and organisational support, including convening and attending meetings and taking minutes.
- Guidance to ensure that the LGBs work in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and understands the potential consequences for non-compliance.
- Effective communication.
- Advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the LGBs.
You will be part of a small, supportive team, comprising our Clerk to Trustees and Clerk to Hinchley Wood School and Primary School LGBs. If this role appeals to you, we are looking for someone who can commit to attending 6 Local Governing Body meetings per year plus some additional meetings. We anticipate approximately 8 hours will be required per week, working during term time only. The FTE salary range is from £30,665 - £35,188 pa. The ideal candidate:
- Will be able to work independently and an excellent time manager;
- can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
- has some governance knowledge and the ability to understand regulations and other statutory requirements related to school governance;
- is able to steer decisions of the Governing Body to ensure compliance with legislation and provide effective guidance and support; and
- will have attended or is willing to make a commitment to participate in the NGA’s Level 3 Certificate in the clerking of school and academy governing boards.
